Kim Jong Un is Seeking a Peace Treaty From Trump

According to a Korean newspaper – the Dong-A Ilbo – Kim Jong Un is likely to seek a peace treaty, along with nuclear disarmament and establishing diplomatic relations, after meeting with US President Donald Trump.

While the details of the meeting have not yet been decided, if the meeting does go as planned Trump will be the first US President to meet with the leader of North Korea. Koh Yu-hwan, a teacher of North Korean studies at Dongguk University, Seoul, has this to say:

“There were agreements between the U.S. and North Korea to open up discussion on a peace treaty, but they never materialized. The U.S. wants a peace treaty at the end of the denuclearization process, while for the North, it’s the precondition for its denuclearization.”
